Do you have an outdoorsy mom in your lift that you need to get a gift for? Never fear! Not only are there an insane amount of outdoor products to choose from, there is also a wide range of cost for outdoor gear. I’m sure you can find the perfect gift for the outdoorsy mom in your life somewhere in this gift guide, no matter what your budget is.

Gifts for Outdoorsy Moms: Hiking Gear

If the mom in your life is a hiker, there are so many options for gifts that will make her hiking life better! Check out my top recommendations for hiking gifts for outdoorsy moms:

  • Hiking backpack: A necessity for day hikes! Usually the recommended size is between 24-32 liters.

  • Hiking carrier: An absolute essential for moms with small children, a quality child hiking carrier will allow her to continue hiking with her little one
  • Ergo: The best soft carrier for babies under six months old and also great for shorter hikes. Pro tip: don’t get the black one like I did. If it’s hot, black material will be hot. Stick to khaki colors, grays, and other lighter options.

  • Trekking poles: I don’t hike with my son without them. Trekking poles are great for everyone, and they’re especially great when you’re carrying a toddler.
  • Water reservoir: Minimize weight (looking at you, heavy Hydroflasks) and maximize convenience with a quality water reservoir that she can stick in her backpack. Get a high quality one like the Osprey linked above; I bought a cheap water reservoir and it’s nowhere near as nice as my husband’s Osprey.
  • Emergency blanket: For peace of mind, especially with children on the trail too.
  • Personal Location Beacon: This is a big ticket item and something that may be more important for moms: a way to call for help in an emergency when you’re out of cell range.

Gifts for Outdoorsy Moms: Camping Gear

There is a wide range of gifts for camping, from practical to more luxurious. Here are some of my favorite gift ideas for moms who camp:

  • Yeti mug: Perfect for morning camp coffee or tea

  • Jetboil: the easiest way to boil water while camping. Bonus: it’s super lightweight, making it ideal for backpacking, too.
  • Solar shower: My most prized camp possession. Give her a way to get clean when the campground doesn’t have showers.

  • Waterproof bluetooth speaker: Fun for hanging around the campground or relaxing by the lake.
  • Picnic blanket: A must have for hanging out in nature. We basically use our picnic blanket for every single trip we take.

  • The best travel capris: I wear these on travel days to get to the campground or to get home. They are so comfy and cute.
  • Travel joggers: I have a pair of prAna joggers that are absolutely fantastic for lounging around camp
  • String lights: Hear me out. A nice vibe makes a camping trip way better. Make her camping trip a little magical with some solar powered string lights for her tent or picnic area.
  • Cute picnic table set: This picnic table and bench cover set comes in awesome colors/patterns and will make meal cleanup way easier. Plus, if it rains, she’ll be able to wipe down the table and seats.
  • Solar power bank: THE most clutch piece of gear for longer camping trips. If she’s gone for more than a couple days, she’ll probably want a way to charge her phone and camera. These are a game changer, trust me.
  • Down sleeping bag: The best type of sleeping bag for staying warm on cold nights in a tent.
  • Air mattress: this is particularly awesome if your camping mom currently has a sleeping pad. Air mattresses totally change the game, I don’t think we would camp anymore without one.

Gifts for Outdoorsy Moms: Winter and Water Sports

Some gear is especially important for winter or water sports. It can be intimidating to get outside in the snow or into the water with little ones, but having the right gear will help a lot! Here are some suggestions for the best gifts for outdoorsy moms that will help her do just that:

  • Wool base layers: My absolute favorite wool base layer is the quarter zip from Smartwool. It’s thick and warm, and the zip allows you to get some air when needed. However, if you are looking for a cheaper alternative, Costco sells some great lightweight wool shirts in the fall (I’ve usually found them in November or December) that are around $20.

  • Adorable beanie: A wool beanie is always a good idea
  • Gaiters: Helpful gear for snow shoeing or cross country skiing. Keeps snow out of her boots!
  • Fleece jacket: A woman can never have too many fleece jackets. I am completely obsessed with mine from LL Bean and want more.
  • Wool socks: Another item you can never have too many of. I used to only wear wool socks for hiking, but more and more of my sock wardrobe is becoming wool socks (for day to day life too). These are my favorite for both hiking AND day to day use, and Darn Tough has a lifetime warranty, so if they get a hole, you can get a new pair.
  • Down booties: The absolute best thing for after a cold day outside, she’ll keep these down booties in her car for the drive. And these are great for camping mornings/evenings, too!
  • Microspikes: An essential for outdoor exploring in icy winter conditions, these allow her to hike in otherwise difficult conditions
  • Goretex mittens: The best way to keep fingers and hands warm in wet and cold weather. These ones are especially awesome because of the cute and fun patterns.
  • Cute swimsuit: I’m totally obsessed with Carve Design one piece swimsuits
  • Chacos: The ultimate outdoor adventure sandal. I’ve had mine for literally 9 years and they still work.
  • Expensive, amazing sunscreen: This sunscreen is definitely a splurge item
  • The best sun hoodie: I discovered sun hoodies last summer and now don’t go out without one. They are lightweight and protect you from harmful sun rays. These are a little pricy but completely worth it.

This sun hoodie is my constant summer companion.

  • A breathable wide-brimmed sun hat: A constant companion for water activities and sunny day adventures, and foldable and washable!
  • Inflatable Stand Up Paddleboard: A great way to spend hot summer days outside and on the water
